Our natural world has served as the pallet for art ever since Man picked up a rock and began drawing, writing, and sculpting. Nature is a part of us and the way an artist sees and conveys it says as much about the artist as it does the world.
I’m grateful to be living in the 21st century when digital photography can help me express my artistic vision of our natural world. As a photographer, I am happiest shooting alone outdoors—taking in the sky, the surroundings, the colors and forms—and capturing the raw material that later, through digital process, I will finesse into images that transcend simple representation and become works of art that I hope people will find moving, inspiring and noteworthy.
I am forever fascinated by the variations provided by nature. Simple changes such as weather and seasons can transform a place in ways that the imagination cannot. Everywhere nature’s set and lighting designers are at work; and working with them is my pleasure and honor.
I was born in Utrecht Netherlands, grew up in Northern California, and now reside in San Diego, California. Each place had a different look and feel; and, in some ineffable way, has influenced my aesthetic.
